A Routine Voyage Turns Mysterious
On September 27, 2018, 38-year-old Nicolas Andres Pettitt vanished from the F/V Clipper Epic, a Seattle-based fishing vessel operating in the Bering Sea. The ship was approximately 60 miles north of St. Matthew Island, Alaska, when Pettitt was last seen around 12:40 p.m. Despite immediate search efforts, no trace of him was ever found .
The Vessel and Its Operations
The Clipper Epic is a 162-foot freezer longliner owned by Clipper Seafoods. It specializes in fishing, processing, and freezing Alaska cod.
