Kerry Egan, a 45-year-old fisherman from Britt, Minnesota, had a deep connection to the sea. His work on Alaskan fishing boats allowed him to pursue his passion for hunting and fishing in the Iron Range for nearly half the year. Egan's dedication to the fishing industry was evident in his commitment to the demanding and perilous life at sea.
The Fateful Voyage of the Arctic Rose
On April 2, 2001, tragedy struck when the fishing vessel Arctic Rose sank approximately 205 miles northwest of St. Paul Island in the Bering Sea. The vessel went down so swiftly that no distress calls were made, leaving little information about the circumstances of the disaster.
