A Routine Voyage Turns Tragic
On January 27, 1996, the fishing vessel "Pacesetter" embarked on what was expected to be a routine journey in the Bering Sea. Among the crew was 32-year-old Michael Kirk Ericson from Dillingham, Alaska. The vessel was operating approximately 60 miles southeast of St. George Island when it tragically sank, leading to the disappearance of all seven crew members on board .
The Missing Crew Members
In addition to Michael Ericson, the missing crew included Stanley Eftestad , Richard Anderson, Bryon Koesterman , Stephen Mack, Elias Pena, and Matthew Pope.
