Roy Neil Searchwell Jr., a 29-year-old Jamaican immigrant, had recently embarked on a new chapter in Raleigh, North Carolina. Having moved to the United States three years prior, he initially resided with his father in New Jersey before relocating to Raleigh just two months before his disappearance. In Raleigh, Roy worked as a handyman, utilizing his skills in repairing refrigerators and air conditioners. He was also reportedly considering employment at a car dealership. Despite the distance, Roy maintained connections with his family, including three children in Jamaica and two in New Jersey.
On October 26, 1995, Roy was last seen at his residence on St. Augustine Avenue in Raleigh. He left his home in his vehicle, a routine occurrence, but this time he did not return. Four days later, on October 30, his vehicle was discovered abandoned in a rural area on Grasshopper Road near Knightdale, North Carolina. The discovery was alarming: a significant amount of blood was found in the trunk, later confirmed to be Roy's. There were no other signs of Roy at the scene.
The Raleigh Police Department initiated an investigation into Roy's disappearance, classifying the case as endangered missing with foul play suspected. Despite the blood evidence found in the trunk of his car, no additional clues have surfaced to indicate Roy's whereabouts or what transpired. The lack of witnesses and physical evidence has made the case particularly challenging for investigators.
Roy's disappearance left his family and friends in a state of uncertainty and grief. His children, both in Jamaica and New Jersey, have grown up without knowing what happened to their father. The absence of closure has been a persistent source of pain for his loved ones, who continue to seek answers and justice....Read More
