A Fateful Fourth of July Celebration
On July 4, 2021, 21-year-old Myles Williams joined friends for a boating excursion on Big Lake, Alaska, to celebrate Independence Day. The festivities took a tragic turn when, in the early hours of July 5, Myles fell from the back of the boat and vanished beneath the water's surface. Despite immediate efforts by his companions, he was not found.
Intensive Search and Rescue Operations
Following the incident, Alaska State Troopers were notified at 3:57 a.m., prompting a comprehensive search operation. Teams from the Mat-Su Borough EMS Dive Team, MAT+SAR, and Alaska Dive Rescue responded promptly, scouring the lake until 5 p.m. that day without success.
