The Fateful Day: November 11, 2023

On November 11, 2023, the Galán Herazo family, along with a group of fellow migrants, attempted to ford the treacherous waters of the Rio Grande near Piedras Negras, Coahuila. The river, notorious for its unpredictable currents, has been the site of numerous migrant tragedies. As they waded through the water, panic ensued when a fellow traveler, gripped by fear, clung desperately to Yiini Paola.
