Assistant manager Peter Paul Marquez Jr., a 47-year-old known for his dedication and warm smile, was fatally shot while attempting to thwart a robbery in progress. Born on April 8, 1964, in Riverside, California, Peter was cherished by his family and colleagues alike. His commitment to his work and his courageous spirit were evident in his final moments.
The Fateful Night: A Robbery Turns Deadly
In the early hours of that Saturday, two Walmart employees were collecting cash from the store's registers, placing the money into a shopping cart. As they proceeded, an armed man approached, announcing his intent to rob them. The assailant seized the cart laden with cash and began making his way toward the store's exit.
