A Night of Celebration Turns Deadly
In the early hours of May 9, 2010, a CD release party at an unlicensed music club in West Oakland transformed from a jubilant gathering into a scene of chaos and tragedy. Located at the intersection of 34th and Chestnut streets, the club was filled with attendees when, at approximately 2:45 a.m., an unidentified gunman opened fire. The sudden eruption of violence left two young men dead and four women wounded, one critically. Among the deceased was 24-year-old Vuitton Garrett of Modesto. The motive behind the shooting remains unknown, and no arrests have been made to date.

Born in 1986, Vuitton Garrett was a resident of Modesto, California. At the time of his untimely death, he was just 24 years old.
