On August 1, 2020, 75-year-old Herman Edward Harston was last seen leaving his home on Chatelaine Avenue in Danville, Virginia, reportedly heading to a local store. Known for his independence, Harston often used the city's transit system and would occasionally be away from home for extended periods, sometimes up to a month. His family, accustomed to these absences, became concerned when months passed without any contact. Danville Police received "reliable information" suggesting that Harston had traveled on his own to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, in September 2020 and was in good health at that time. This lead prompted collaboration with Oklahoma authorities to verify the information and locate Harston.
Despite the potential lead, Harston's family remained deeply concerned. A Facebook post from a family member in the "Living in Danville & Pittsylvania County" group expressed frustration and worry, noting that Harston had not contacted his family in two years. The post highlighted the emotional toll the prolonged absence had taken on his loved ones and their desire for closure. ...Read More
