In early 1985, Valerie Ann Larkin, a 38-year-old woman, embarked on a bus trip from her home with the intention of reaching Virginia. Her journey, however, was abruptly halted in Needles, California. During her stopover, Valerie contacted her parents, informing them that she had lost her bus ticket and all her money. In response, her parents wired her funds to continue her trip. Tragically, after this communication, Valerie was never heard from again. The exact date of her disappearance is somewhat ambiguous, with some sources citing February 1, 1985, while others mention December 31, 1985.
At the time of her disappearance, Valerie was described as a Caucasian female, standing 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighing approximately 120 pounds. She had brown hair and hazel eyes. Notably, her dental health was poor, with a large chip in one of her upper front teeth and a slight overbite. These distinguishing features were documented to aid in her identification.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department took charge of the investigation into Valerie's disappearance. Despite their efforts, the case presented numerous challenges. There were no known witnesses to her disappearance, and no physical evidence was found to suggest foul play. The lack of dental records and fingerprints further complicated identification efforts. However, a DNA profile was developed and entered into the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS) to assist in potential future matches.
Over the years, Valerie's case has garnered attention from the public and online communities. In 2005, discussions on forums like Websleuths speculated about a possible connection between Valerie and a belly dancer named Valerie Larkin based in Dublin, Ireland. The resemblance between the two women sparked interest, but no concrete evidence supported this theory. ...Read More
