The Morning That Changed Everything
On September 12, 2014, three-year-old William Tyrrell vanished from his foster grandmother’s home in Kendall, New South Wales. Dressed in a Spider-Man costume, he had been playing with his sister in the yard while his foster mother and grandmother watched. At some point between 10:00 and 10:25 a.m., William disappeared. His foster mother, upon realizing she hadn't heard him for several minutes, began searching the property. At 10:57 a.m., she called emergency services. Despite immediate and extensive search efforts, no trace of William was found .
An Unprecedented Search Effort
The initial search for William was one of the largest in New South Wales history. Hundreds of police officers, State Emergency Service members, Rural Fire Service personnel, and volunteers scoured the area. Helicopters, detection dogs, and door-to-door inquiries were employed.
