A Birthday Disappearance in Gooding County

On January 12, 1986, Louis Neguelouart, a 48-year-old man of Basque Spanish descent, was last seen in Gooding County, Idaho. That day, which also marked his birthday, he picked up his paycheck from First Security Bank. After this, he vanished without a trace. Four days later, his bank account was found to be overdrawn by $56, suggesting that someone may have accessed his funds shortly after his disappearance.

On January 20, 1986, Neguelouart's vehicle was discovered abandoned on Highway 93, approximately 15 miles north of Las Vegas, Nevada. The car had a wing window that had been punched out, and the keys, along with some of Neguelouart's personal belongings, were found inside. There were no mechanical issues with the vehicle, and no signs of Neguelouart were present at the scene.

Challenges in the Investigation

Efforts to utilize DNA technology in the case have been hindered by the inability to locate any of his relatives in Spain, which has prevented the acquisition of a DNA sample for comparison. This lack of familial DNA has posed significant challenges in advancing the investigation.

The Case Remains Unsolved

Despite the passage of nearly four decades, the disappearance of Louis Neguelouart remains unsolved. The circumstances surrounding his vanishing, including the abandoned vehicle found far from his last known location, continue to perplex investigators. The case is officially classified as a cold case, and authorities continue to seek any information that could shed light on what happened to Neguelouart. ...Read More
