Calvin Charles Zimdars, born on September 14, 1961, in Big Timber, Montana, was the eighth of eleven children in a family deeply entrenched in the rugged landscapes of the American West. Growing up amidst the vastness of Montana, Calvin developed a profound connection to the land, embracing the cowboy lifestyle that defined his upbringing. His youth was marked by active participation in sports and rodeo, laying the foundation for a life characterized by hard work, resilience, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors.
Family, Ranching, and the Cowboy Way
After graduating from Sweet Grass County High School in 1980, Calvin ventured into the oil fields of Thermopolis, Wyoming, where he met Lorie Helen Waller. The couple married in 1981 and embarked on a journey that saw them working on various ranches across Montana. Their life together was enriched by the birth of three children: Charles Calvin, Clarissa Helen, and Jay Edward.
