On a late Saturday night in November 2016, 22-year-old Adama Moye sat in his vehicle in Chicago's Longwood Manor neighborhood, awaiting a friend. Moye, the son of renowned percussionist Famoudou Don Moye of the avant-garde quintet Art Ensemble of Chicago, harbored aspirations of becoming a chef.
