Moye, the son of renowned percussionist Famoudou Don Moye of the avant-garde quintet Art Ensemble of Chicago, harbored aspirations of becoming a chef. He was diligently pursuing his culinary studies, with plans to join his father in Marseille, France, upon graduation. A Sudden and Senseless Act of Violence
As Moye waited, a vehicle approached and halted beside his car. Without warning, an individual from the adjacent vehicle opened fire, striking Moye in the chest.
