A Fateful Journey Begins

On November 15, 1971, the coastal city of Galveston, Texas, was rocked by the disappearance of two vibrant 15-year-old girls, Debbie Ackerman and Maria Johnson. Best friends and avid surfers, the duo was last seen hitchhiking near an island ice cream shop, aiming to reach Houston. Eyewitnesses reported that a man driving a white van stopped and offered them a ride. Tragically, this would be the last time anyone saw Debbie and Maria alive.

The Grim Discovery

Two days later, on November 17, 1971, the bodies of Debbie and Maria were discovered in Turner's Bayou near Texas City.
