On July 12, 2001, the routine operations of the Lafayette Motel in Tallahassee, Florida, were disrupted by a grim discovery. A cleaning staff member, performing standard duties, entered one of the rooms at 1525 W. Tennessee St. and found the lifeless body of 35-year-old Sonnyrey Armendariz Munoz. The immediate shock of the scene was compounded by the mystery surrounding his death, as there were no obvious signs pointing to the perpetrator or motive behind this heinous act.
Background of the Victim
Sonnyrey Munoz, a Hispanic male, had recently been released from the Leon County Detention Center prior to his untimely death. Upon regaining his freedom, Munoz was reportedly focused on rebuilding his life, including efforts to secure employment.
