Discovery of the Body
In the early hours of September 29, 2015, the tranquility of Savannah, Georgia, was shattered by a grim discovery. At approximately 5 a.m., officers from the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department (SCMPD) responded to a call on the northbound side of Harry Truman Parkway, just south of Victory Drive. There, they found the lifeless body of 26-year-old Romell Stephens lying on the ground. The circumstances surrounding his death were immediately deemed suspicious, prompting the initiation of a homicide investigation.
Immediate Investigation Efforts
Following the discovery, SCMPD's Violent Crimes detectives swiftly took charge of the case. Crime scene investigators were deployed to meticulously examine the area for any potential evidence. The right northbound lane of Truman Parkway was temporarily closed, leading to traffic delays for morning commuters.
