A Life Cut Short

On November 9, 2018, the Louisville community was shaken by the tragic death of Rashaun L. Shelby. Born on May 21, 1977, in Louisville, Kentucky, Rashaun was affectionately known as "Famo" to his family and friends. He was the beloved son of Renee Shelby and the late Frank Blackmon. Rashaun accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and was baptized at the Church of Our Merciful Savior. He attended Iroquois High School and was known for his deep love and protectiveness towards his family. He is survived by his mother, stepmother Priscilla Blackmon, fiancée Heather Krisby, son Elijah Brigner, and several siblings, including Maurice Shelby, Ahmad Watson, Antwain Blackmon, Kristie Cardine, Marian Moore, Rochelle Blackmon, Schvonda Tramber, and Tonya Moore. Rashaun also served as a father figure to his fiancée's children, Jeremy, Kymber, and Conner Ferrell.

The Fateful Evening

The events leading to Rashaun's untimely death unfolded on a Friday evening. At approximately 5:30 p.m., officers from the Louisville Metro Police Department responded to reports of a shooting in the 1600 block of Huntoon Avenue, near the Iroquois Golf Course.
