On June 18, 2015, the Chatham neighborhood of Chicago was shaken by a violent incident that claimed the life of 30-year-old Lynell L. Simmons. Despite the passage of time, his murder remains unsolved, leaving a void in the community and unanswered questions for his family and friends.

Around 3:10 p.m. on that Thursday afternoon, Simmons stood with two other men outside in the 7900 block of South Langley Avenue. Suddenly, a maroon van pulled up, and two assailants emerged, opening fire on the group.
