On a Tuesday afternoon, August 5, 2014, the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago witnessed a tragic event that added to its history of violence. At approximately 4 p.m., 29-year-old Kashif Tillis was seated in his vehicle in the 7200 block of South Morgan Street. Without warning, a black coupe approached, and an individual from within the car opened fire, striking Tillis multiple times.
Immediate Aftermath and Community Response
The suddenness of the attack left the community in shock. Residents of Englewood, accustomed to the challenges of urban life, were once again reminded of the fragility of safety in their neighborhood.
