A Life Remembered
Herbert "Buster" Perkinson III was more than just a name in Emerson, Georgia. Known for his infectious humor and generous spirit, Buster was a father of two and one of eight siblings. His brother, Gary McCoy, fondly recalls, "If you wanted to laugh, no matter what type of mood you was in, you would go to Buster." This sentiment echoes the profound loss felt by his family and the community since his untimely death.
The Tragic Incident
In the early hours of January 17, 2016, Buster was abducted from his driveway in Emerson. Witnesses reported that two men surprised Buster and two friends, forcibly taking him from his home. Shortly thereafter, around 5:49 a.m., deputies discovered Buster lying on the inside lane of Interstate 75 southbound, just north of Exit 277 in Cherokee County.
