A Tragic Evening in South Shore
On the evening of November 13, 2016, the South Shore neighborhood of Chicago was shaken by the sound of gunfire. At approximately 7:10 p.m., officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 7200 block of South Phillips Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered 25-year-old Grayson C. Langdon lying unresponsive on the ground, having suffered multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:30 p.m.

Grayson's death was not just another statistic in Chicago's ongoing battle with gun violence; it struck deeply at the heart of a family dedicated to peace. His father, the Reverend Dennis C. Langdon of Morgan Park United Methodist Church, was a co-founder of the "Thou Shalt Not Murder" campaign.
