A Night of Violence
On the evening of October 18, 2003, at approximately 11:57 PM, the tranquility of Washington, D.C.'s Benning Road and H Street, SE, was shattered by gunfire. Elrico May, a resident of the area, was fatally shot at this intersection. Despite the immediate response from law enforcement and emergency services, the assailant managed to escape, leaving behind a community in shock and mourning.
The Crime Scene
The corner of Benning Road and H Street, SE, is a bustling area, even during late hours. The incident occurred under the cover of darkness, which may have provided the perpetrator with the opportunity to flee undetected.
