A Fateful Evening on Bechelli Lane

On August 17, 2016, the tranquility of Redding, California, was shattered by a violent crime that remains unsolved to this day. At approximately 9:30 PM, SHASCOM received a 911 call reporting gunshots in the vicinity of 3032 Bechelli Lane. Responding officers from the Redding Police Department arrived to find 67-year-old Edwin "Eddie" Charles Phillips suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite being rushed to a local hospital, Phillips succumbed to his injuries, leaving a void in the community and a case that continues to baffle investigators.

Remembering Eddie Phillips

Born on February 22, 1949, in San Mateo, California, Eddie was the son of Edwin and Ruth Phillips. He dedicated much of his life to the craft of drywall installation, working on numerous high-rise buildings throughout the Bay Area as a member of the Carpenter's Union. In his later years, Eddie channeled his passion for automobiles into a business venture, establishing "Eddie's Rod & Kustoms" in Redding. This endeavor allowed him to immerse himself in the restoration of hot rods and motorcycles, a pursuit he truly cherished. Eddie was also known for his love of music, often found in his shop strumming his guitar, greeting visitors with a smile and a joke. His vibrant personality and generous spirit left an indelible mark on those who knew him.
