On the evening of Tuesday, August 4, 1998, the tranquility of the 4900 block of A Street, SE, in Washington, D.C., was shattered by the sound of gunfire. Duwayne Goodine, a 33-year-old resident, was fatally shot, his life abruptly ended in a violent act that left the community in shock and mourning.
