A Tragic Morning in Southeast Washington, D.C.

On the early morning of July 6, 2019, at approximately 4:50 a.m., the tranquility of the 400 block of Burns Street SE in Washington, D.C., was shattered by the sound of gunfire. Residents awoke to the alarming news that 27-year-old Demarco Jones had been fatally shot in their neighborhood. The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) responded swiftly to the scene, but despite their efforts, the perpetrator remained at large.
