Audrey Hamilton was an 18-year-old with aspirations of becoming a beautician and model. On the night of August 29, 1993, she told her friends at a McDonald's restaurant that she was tired and planned to head home. Despite the late hour, Audrey embarked on the several-block walk through the Congress Heights neighborhood of Southeast Washington, D.C., carrying an empty glass bottle for protection.
