On July 12, 2017, the city of Indianapolis was shaken by a brutal double homicide that claimed the lives of two young men: 25-year-old Mark Secrest Jr. and 27-year-old John Easley. The incident occurred on the northeast side of the city, near the intersection of East 30th Street and Caroline Avenue. The Crime Scene: Discovery of the Victims
On that fateful morning, just before 11:30 a.m., officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) responded to reports of a shooting in the 2900 block of Caroline Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered a gruesome scene: one man was found deceased inside a residence, while the other lay lifeless outside the home. The victims were later identified as Secrest and Easley.
