Background
Susan was born on February 13, 1968, and grew up in Lake Elmo, Minnesota. She graduated from Stillwater High School and briefly attended the University of Wisconsin at River Falls, studying psychology. However, she returned home after two semesters, feeling unprepared to live away from her family. At the time of her disappearance, Susan was living with her mother and younger sister, working two part-time jobs—one at Body and Sole, a clothing store in Oak Park Heights, and another at a K-Mart store in the same shopping complex.
