A Night of Celebration Turns Tragic
On December 31, 2018, Louisville buzzed with the excitement of New Year's Eve festivities. Among the many revelers was 27-year-old Kentrell Morris, who chose to welcome the new year at Cole's Place, a well-known nightclub in the city's west end. The venue was packed with partygoers eager to usher in 2019 with joy and anticipation. However, the night's celebrations took a dark turn when, in the early hours of January 1, 2019, Morris was found dead in an alley near the club, having suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
The Crime Scene and Initial Investigations
Police responded to reports of a shooting near 29th and West Kentucky streets shortly after 3 a.m. They discovered Morris's lifeless body in a parking lot adjacent to the nightclub. Despite the proximity to Cole's Place, officials stated that the shooting did not appear to be directly related to the events inside the club.
