A Routine Visit Turns Tragic
In the summer of 2023, 72-year-old Edgar B. Aberilla and his wife traveled from the Philippines to Burlington, Washington, to visit their daughter, Abigail Tullius. The family participated in a Fourth of July parade in Anacortes, enjoying the festivities together. However, the celebration took a devastating turn when, unbeknownst to his family, Edgar left his daughter's home and was driven by a neighbor to a Lowe's parking lot on Sunset Drive in Bellingham. This was the last confirmed sighting of Edgar.
The Immediate Aftermath
Upon discovering her father's absence, Abigail initiated a frantic search. The neighbor, unaware of Edgar's dementia and limited English proficiency, had dropped him off approximately 30 minutes away from Burlington. This misunderstanding, compounded by Edgar's unfamiliarity with the area, raised immediate concerns for his safety.
