Dahl was last observed around 3:00 a.m. near the 7600 block of 181st Avenue Northwest in Ramsey. He departed on foot, lacking both a vehicle and a cellular phone. Notably, he was not adequately dressed for the cold Minnesota weather, wearing only a blue long-sleeved shirt and a light brown baseball cap.
Adding to the concern, Dahl suffered from mental health issues. His daughter revealed that he had been released from the hospital just days before his disappearance. This context heightened fears for his well-being, especially given the harsh winter conditions he faced without proper attire or means of communication.
Dahl had experienced homelessness prior to his disappearance. During the winter of 2016-2017, he was known to have survived by sleeping in a tent, demonstrating notable survival skills.
