Brendon, described as an inexperienced hiker, possibly aimed to reach Gem Lake, a destination approximately two miles beyond Snow Lake. This route is known for its steep terrain and elevation gain, posing challenges even for seasoned hikers.
Concern arose when Brendon failed to return home as expected. His mother reported him missing on Monday, September 28, prompting immediate search and rescue operations.
Over the course of six days, 366 search and rescue volunteers dedicated approximately 2,000 hours scouring the rugged landscape.
