On the morning of August 5, 2020, Benita was last seen near her residence in McKinney, Texas. She was driving her gray 2007 GMC Yukon, which bore the Texas license plate number NCG7275 and had a distinctive decal on the lower left corner of the rear window.
Several hours after her last sighting, Benita's vehicle was found abandoned on westbound Interstate 40 near mile marker 113 in Canadian County, Oklahoma, approximately 200 miles from McKinney.
