On the morning of March 7, 1979, nine-year-old Katherine Dee Harlan left her home in North Highlands, Sacramento County, at approximately 7:30 a.m. She was on her way to the school bus stop, a routine she followed daily. However, on this particular day, Katherine never made it to school, and concern quickly grew when she didn't return home that afternoon.
The Alarming Disappearance
As hours passed without any sign of Katherine, her family and the community became increasingly alarmed. Searches were organized, and law enforcement agencies were notified.
