A Fateful Night in Columbia Heights
On August 12, 2006, the vibrant neighborhood of Columbia Heights in Washington, D.C., was shaken by a tragic incident that would leave a lasting impact on the community. At approximately 12:05 AM, 25-year-old Tarran Steven Miller found himself embroiled in a heated altercation with Marlon K. Blaize, then 30 years old. The confrontation escalated rapidly, culminating in Blaize brandishing a firearm and discharging it in Miller's direction. In a desperate attempt to escape the imminent threat, Miller fled into the street, where he was struck by a speeding vehicle. The driver of the car failed to stop and render aid, leaving Miller critically injured on the roadway.
A Community Mourns
Miller was immediately transported to a local hospital, where medical professionals fought to save his life. Despite their valiant efforts, he succumbed to his injuries on August 18, 2006, at 8:05 AM, six days after the incident. The community was left in shock and grief, grappling with the senselessness of the tragedy.
