April Rochelle Netter was a vibrant 19-year-old from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Born on July 27, 1997, she was known for her infectious energy and love for dancing and motorcycles. Her family remembers her as a loving and likeable young woman who brought joy to those around her. April attended Capitol High School, where she was an active and spirited student. Her untimely death left a void in the community that still resonates today.
On November 30, 2016, April's life was tragically cut short. She was sitting in a vehicle with a friend in the 1100 block of North 47th Street in Baton Rouge when a silver BMW drove by multiple times. On its final pass, occupants of the vehicle opened fire, riddling April's car with bullets. April was killed instantly, while her friend survived the attack.
Investigators believe that April was not the intended target of the shooting. The silver BMW used in the drive-by had been reported stolen about a month prior to the incident. Shortly after the shooting, the vehicle was found burned several blocks away, presumably to destroy any evidence. The case remains unsolved, and authorities suspect it was a case of mistaken identity.
April's mother, Karen Netter, received the devastating news while at work. The loss of her daughter has left her with an enduring pain that words cannot fully capture. She recalls April's passion for dancing and her love for motorcycles, having started riding at the age of 12. Karen's grief is compounded by the lack of closure, as the perpetrators have yet to be brought to justice. ...Read More
