Thomas Bendig was a Caucasian male, standing 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing around 152 pounds. He had gray hair—balding on top—and striking green eyes. Known affectionately as "Tom," he bore several distinguishing features, including a vertical sixteen-inch scar on his chest from heart bypass surgery and a surgical scar running from his ankle to his thigh on the inside of his leg.
