A Passionate Surfer's Return to Oahu

In late October 2005, 36-year-old surfer Dustin Gabel returned to Oahu after an exhilarating surf trip across Singapore and Japan. Known for his adventurous spirit and deep love for the ocean, Gabel wasted no time upon his return. On Monday, October 24, he collected his paycheck from Mid-Pacific Mortgage, where he worked as a loan officer, and by the next day, he was back in the water at Yokohama Bay, eager to ride the waves he cherished.

The Fateful Paddle Toward Kaena Point

On Tuesday, October 25, around 2:30 p.m., a city lifeguard observed Gabel paddling out into the bay, heading toward the rugged and remote Kaena Point.
