A Promising Life Cut Short

On October 31, 1987, Wichita, Kansas, was immersed in typical Halloween festivities. Among the revelers was 15-year-old Shannon Olson, a vibrant teenager known for her lively spirit. That evening, Shannon had plans to attend a sleepover with her friend, Tammy McReynolds, after trick-or-treating. However, Shannon decided to leave briefly to get a drink, assuring her friends she'd return shortly. Tragically, she never came back.

The Gruesome Discovery

The following day, November 1, 1987, two fishermen made a horrifying discovery. Shannon's lifeless body was found floating in a sand pit near 29th Street and Hydraulic Avenue in Wichita. She had been brutally stabbed multiple times in the chest, her throat slashed, and her hands bound behind her back with her own bra.
