Early Life and Marriage
Cynthia Elizabeth Hack, known as Cindy James, was born on June 12, 1944, in British Columbia, Canada. Raised in a family with a retired Canadian Air Force colonel as her father and a homemaker mother, Cindy was one of six siblings. After completing high school, she pursued nursing, where she met Dr. Roy Makepeace, a physician nearly two decades her senior. The couple married in 1966, and Cindy dedicated herself to working with children facing emotional and behavioral challenges.
Onset of Harassment
Seven months following her 1982 divorce from Makepeace, Cindy reported the beginning of a series of disturbing incidents. These included menacing phone calls, notes with death threats, and unsettling occurrences around her home, such as slashed pillows and strangled cats left in her yard.
