Initial Disappearance in 2019
In May 2019, 14-year-old Silvana Danielle Mendoza-Juarez vanished from her home in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Last seen around 7 a.m. on May 24, she left behind her phone, purse, and essential epilepsy medication. Her mother, Kristina Hernandez, expressed deep concern, emphasizing the life-threatening nature of Silvana's condition without her daily medication. The family's fears intensified upon discovering Silvana's interactions with unknown men on the dating app Badoo, leading them to believe she might have met someone from the platform before her disappearance. Authorities issued a BOLO (Be On the Lookout) and collaborated with Nashville officials, suspecting she could be in the area. Fortunately, after five distressing days, Silvana was located safely in Nashville on May 29, 2019. Details about her time while missing were not publicly disclosed.
A Second Disappearance in 2023
Tragically, the relief was short-lived. On July 5, 2023, now 18-year-old Silvana went missing again. She was last seen near Hopkinsville, and her sudden absence reignited the community's concerns. Reports indicated she might have traveled to the Glasgow area and possibly Monroe County. Described as 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighing approximately 220 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair featuring blonde highlights, Silvana's disappearance prompted the Elkton Police Department to seek public assistance.
