A Teenager Who Seemed to Vanish Without a Trace

Evan Eric Chartrand was 14 years old and living in the Wetumpka/Holtville area of Elmore County, Alabama, when he disappeared with his mother, Susan Lynn Osborne, over Memorial Day weekend in 2017. Evan had brown hair and blue eyes and was approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall and 160 pounds when he went missing. He was a student at Holtville High School and was supposed to begin his sophomore year that fall. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency continues to list Evan as missing, and the Elmore County Sheriff's Office still includes him among its active missing-person cases. More than nine years after Evan and his mother disappeared, there has been no publicly confirmed sighting establishing where either of them went after May 29, 2017.

A Life in Alabama After Leaving Michigan

Evan and his mother had originally come to Alabama from Michigan. Susan moved south while she was married to Evan's father, and after that marriage ended, she remained in Alabama and shared custody of Evan. She later remarried, becoming the wife of Jerry Marshall Osborne. By 2017, Susan and Evan were living with Jerry at a residence on Waterview Drive in the Wetumpka area. Although much of Susan's extended family remained outside Alabama, Evan had established a life locally through school, family connections and the community surrounding Holtville High School. Relatives later described maintaining regular contact with Susan and Evan through telephone calls and FaceTime, making the prolonged silence that followed Memorial Day 2017 especially alarming.
