Background of the Case

Heidi Ann Rhodes, a 40-year-old woman from Panama City Beach, Florida, vanished on the evening of May 7, 2012, alongside her boyfriend, John Hughes of Santa Rosa Beach. The couple was last seen together in Bay County and neither was heard from again for several weeks. Their abrupt disappearance was especially concerning to family and friends, as they were known to maintain regular contact and had no history of sudden disappearances .
