On August 10, 2016, Edward Davis, a 24-year-old African American man, was fatally shot in the head near an apartment complex in the 6000 block of Chef Menteur Highway in New Orleans. Police were alerted by a call reporting gunfire, and upon arrival, they found Davis lying on the ground. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Edward Davis was the younger brother of Angel Love, a cast member of the reality television series "Basketball Wives." In the aftermath of his death, Angel Love expressed profound grief on social media, lamenting the loss of her only little brother and questioning the violence plaguing New Orleans.
