A Quiet Afternoon Turns Mysterious
On the afternoon of September 9, 2016, 45-year-old James Daren Treadwell vanished into the dense woods of Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana. Visiting a relative in the 5000 block of Louisiana Highway 117, Treadwell became visibly upset over a family member's illness and abruptly ran into the surrounding forest. Despite immediate search efforts by family and church volunteers, he was never seen again.
An Intensive Search Begins
Following his disappearance, the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office launched an extensive search operation. With assistance from the DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office Air Support and the U.S. Forest Service, authorities scoured several hundred acres of thick woodland using aerial surveillance, ground teams, search dogs, and all-terrain vehicles.
