In the early hours of June 14, 2019, 22-year-old Michael Sinotte Jr. left his family home in North Kingstown, Rhode Island, without informing anyone. His brother observed him leaving around 1:30 a.m., but it wasn't until the next morning that his absence was noted. Michael, who had been managing schizophrenia with medication, had recently ceased his treatment without medical guidance, leading to noticeable behavioral changes. Despite these changes, his departure was unexpected and uncharacteristic.
Approximately an hour after leaving home, Michael was approached by a South Kingstown police officer while parked on the side of Route 138. He explained that he was a GrubHub delivery driver checking directions on his phone. The officer found nothing amiss and allowed him to continue. However, subsequent investigations revealed that Michael had not accepted any delivery orders that night, adding a layer of mystery to his actions.
Three days later, Michael's black 2000 Honda Civic was discovered locked and abandoned in the parking lot of the Great Swamp Management Area in South Kingstown. Inside the vehicle were fast food receipts and an uneaten hamburger, but his keys and cell phone were missing. The phone was later determined to have been turned off. This location, known for its challenging terrain, became the focal point of extensive search efforts.
The Great Swamp Management Area spans over 3,500 acres of dense wetlands, making search operations arduous. Initial searches involved K9 units, drones, and ground teams, but the swamp's thick foliage and treacherous conditions hindered progress. A K9 unit initially picked up a scent trail leading away from Michael's car, but it quickly dissipated. Despite multiple searches, no definitive evidence of Michael's whereabouts was uncovered....Read More
