Linda Christine Wheeler, a 67-year-old Native American woman, lived a modest life in the rural outskirts of Nacogdoches County, Texas. Residing in the 700 block of County Road 154, approximately ten miles north of the city, Linda was known for her independent spirit and connection to family. Her home, nestled in the quiet countryside, was a place of solitude and routine.
On February 9, 2020, at approximately 1:25 a.m., Linda left her residence on foot. Notably, she departed without wearing shoes, dressed in a pink, purple, or navy blue t-shirt, blue skinny jeans, and white socks. She carried a black purse but left behind other personal items. This sudden and uncharacteristic departure raised immediate concern among those who knew her.
Linda had a history of hitchhiking and was known to travel to visit family members in San Augustine, Texas. Authorities speculated that she might have been attempting such a journey when she disappeared. However, she never arrived at her intended destination, and no confirmed sightings were reported along the route.
Linda's disappearance was particularly alarming due to her history of mental illness. This aspect of her health made her more vulnerable, especially considering the circumstances of her departure—alone, on foot, and without proper footwear. Her mental health history added urgency to the search efforts, as she might have been disoriented or in need of medical assistance. ...Read More
