A Tragic Night at McDonald's
On the evening of April 22, 2015, the bustling atmosphere of a Westside McDonald's on Cassat Avenue in Jacksonville was shattered by gunfire. Twenty-seven-year-old Paul Gillins, a known member of the Cutthroat Committee gang, was fatally shot while seated in his vehicle. Two other passengers, both 23-year-old men, sustained injuries in the attack. The assailant fled the scene on foot, leaving behind a community in shock and a crime scene teeming with unanswered questions.
Gang Affiliations and Rising Tensions
Investigations revealed that Gillins' passengers were affiliated with the Doo Doo Creek gang, highlighting the intricate web of gang associations in Jacksonville. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) identified three primary gangs involved in the recent surge of violence: the Cutthroat Committee, PYC (Pakistan Yulee Clique), and the Doo Doo Creek gang.
