On March 24, 2024, Andrew Douglas Tench, a 31-year-old resident of Belmont, North Carolina, set out to celebrate his birthday at The Bar at 316 in Charlotte's Dilworth neighborhood. Surveillance footage captured him leaving the establishment with a man he had met that evening. This would be the last known sighting of Tench. The following day, his family reported him missing, initiating a search that would span months and leave many questions unanswered.
Days after his disappearance, Tench's 2010 Hyundai Elantra was found abandoned in Monroe, North Carolina. The car's blinkers were still on, and the keys were missing. This discovery added to the growing concern and confusion surrounding Tench's whereabouts, as Monroe was not along his expected route.
In April 2024, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department identified 31-year-old D’Shaun Montrell Robinson as a person of interest in Tench's disappearance. Robinson voluntarily went to the Law Enforcement Center in Uptown Charlotte for an interview. Following the interview, he was arrested and charged with several offenses, including concealment of a death, identity theft, financial card theft and fraud, and larceny of a motor vehicle.
During the investigation, Robinson admitted to meeting Tench at the bar and later disposing of his body in a dumpster behind a Charlotte hotel. He claimed that Tench had died and that he panicked, leading him to conceal the death rather than report it. Robinson also used Tench's credit and debit cards at multiple businesses in North Carolina and South Carolina from March 25 until March 30, with surveillance footage capturing these transactions. ...Read More
